Devs can easily lock level @min for the tier and let you max RR :D
And as gear is so little diff in those tiers anyway you'd easily win fights using your skill

Why do books any other way?

I have no dev experience so I try not to assume anything is "easy" but if they can do that, I would be fine with it.

It's all about renown rank, because this gives you items.
There was alot of hate because twinks stayed in a tier and farmed lowbies with superior items, renown points and spec when they could progress to the next tier, idk why i have to explain the obvious.
The game is not about renown its about RvR you dont need renown to compete even tho ppl were obsessed with trying to get the most renown because they thought taking empty keeps and such would serve them better then actually pvp'ing and learning the game which is wrong and why you saw so many high level players that sucked.
Sulorie wrote:Gear gap is such an easy excuse for losing in T2-3. -.-

Guess why T2 was empty. People rushed to T3, grind rats, because T3 locks gave more RP and being R32+, leeching T4 locks was possible as well. Doing this you increase your RR even faster.
I already said something about LotD, so complaining about that is a pretty weak argument.
When a player has better gear, more spec points and more renown points then kills a lower level player what other excuse is there if both players are as good as each other ?
T2 was empty because for most the game became solely a renown race towards the end year, where 90% of players from t1-t3 only cared about renown and avoided fighting because it was easier to leech, the type of players that helped ruin the great RvR we had.
Khorvald wrote: As I and others have already stated, T1 through T3 will eventually have population issues no matter what. That is not the point of the book or this thread. The point is to make sure that you don't level out of a tier before you've capped your RR.

Well i guess i misunderstood you, i thought you wanted no xp books to boost the pop in lower tiers, making the leveling experience more enjoyable but instead you want to help reintroduce the renown leech mode most proper pvp'ers hated.

No for renown whores, just go out and RvR !

Superior items won't exist, when you make LotD items unavailable for T3. ;)
Why should average players progress to the next tier, when they get farmed without a premade around them or appropriate gear? It had a reason they changed tier range and added the books. People should have time to gather renown to be prepared for T4.

Having same skill is a highly theoretical assumption. Good players wouldn't complain, they have no problems when entering the next tier. All they do is preparing themselves. With top items for the current tier, you won't have problems when starting in the next tier.
Farming renown is only done to wear the next armor sets the moment you gain the required rank, making the transition easier.

With the linear stat progression of all sub sovereign armor set, gear differences are small, when using bolster buff.
Renown skills alone are no game changer, they are not the reason you lose a fight. Other things are more important.
New skills are a good incentive to rank up.
There are differences but they are not as big as you make them.
Dying is no option.

In the good old days of LvL+RR capped in same level, ergo a lvl30 could only reach RR30 filled bar, these never happened, and i mean never. I fought hard in every t2-t3 battle i played. We played for the PvP and most often than not we avoided an empty keep if a full keep was at disposal. We grinded several levels doing PvE just to have more PvP, and our goal was to PvP since u passed normally 2 days doing PvE to level up some levels, then 2 marvellous days doing PvP non-stop. If there were, lets say, 50 players PvPing in the tier, is more than likely that all them were in the same zone. Cuase u couldnt simply spare those RRs u had worked on to PvP doing empty caps......

This game is ALL about PvP.
Spoiler:
Things that u may have miss and i had the luck to enjoy?: Fighting for 2 hours in the door of Burgman's, passing 4 hours in a push on-push out in the cliff in Barak Varr, making a massive assult to Mashes of Madness that lasted, literally, forever, a full saturday, Mandred under assault defending the Lord from the upper floor, defending the Elf Gate in an endless phalanx of tanks for more than 40mins of knife-range struggle, ...

Thats what i want back. Massive PvP assaults to keeps, epic defenses, world-ending battles of WB vs WB.

In the end i have to confess that i remember more and enjoyed more t2-3 than t1-4. As said, the gear gap, most likely. I have the feeling that most of u, with 1.4 and so, mostly grinded ur RR to t4. We didnt. We grinded our levels to be able to gain RR from PvP, and was fun.

I remember the young days of WAR as well, and they were fun but at the same time it was a pain to max ur RR. And it was easy to when u were a healer, so being R35/RR35 was miserable.

Also you were lucky to be on a populated server, I only saw a massive keep siege in T3 after the servers merged.

I believe there will be massive PvP assaults on keeps and epic defenses again soon, especially because when T2 opens it will be restricted to EvC for a good long while, until they fix everything. I would say I enjoyed T2-T3 more after 1.4 because of the changes to RR, otherwise T4 was always awesome, even with gear differentials and high RR players. ;)

Indeed i remember the good times like u described, when it was about the battle rather then caring about renown gain, hopefully we will see them times again here :D

I had a locked down toon in t3 and it was fun sure i was max rr but the people who twinked norm ended up pushing back the zergs. iv'e spent more time roaming with a 6 man in t3 than fighting with the pug warband and taking on the other roaming twink groups there are good and bad things about twinks now the guys runnin around with the lotd weapons was pretty bad i know i used lotd banners pots ect the goal of a game is to get yr character as decked as it can and smash face but no twink groups going to smash down a zerg which is what i ran into most of the time in t3 depending on T.o.D and i dont know about other premades but if my realms rolling the crap out of the other realm im switching zones no fun if theres no fight

Don't put words in my mouth. Just above my post that you quoted, you complain about players only caring about renown and avoiding fighting and leeching. Well guess what? If they didn't have to worry about leveling too quickly and min/maxing renown gain then they could freely participate in all the epic fights going on like "proper pvp'ers".
