According to the Designer Devs of the Old Game:
The Idea for appearance is that you and your side see yourself as you change the appearance.
For Game playing issues, and for the enemy who sees who he is fighting against it makes absolutely sense that he sees the original stuff you are wearing.
In my personal opinion it matters not. If I see six destro players I'm trying to kill everyone of them. It doesn't matter to me if the chosen one has a Toughness or Wound bonus Armour. He is a tank so he is tough. Maybe I start with the one who looks like T1, but when you are running around with level 30 you are fighting against other players with level 30 and the gear of that level.
As far as I know the devs have their hands full on rebuilding the stuff that once works. And they will do that for quite some time. So making appearance work as it was, is a nearer goal than a new demand in function.
@Crossbows:
Seeing a bolt flying out of a Crossbow would be great. But I think the animation, like the Bullet from the "Gun-Blast" Action is not coded to the Item, but to the action. That's why in the old game, if you had the khemri Crossbow you still shot bullets out of it.
@The Engineers T1 Helmet.
The T1 NPC Engineers have this flappy cap as a helmet. Back in the old Game there was a quest in the marshes of madness where you could obtain it as an Engineer. Please bring this back as the "3rd Bitterstone Thunderers" need that cap as their government issue headgear.
