Perhaps Telen people play those classes simply because they enjoy them and not as you say there “easy mode”?
I didn’t play Mara on live but I rotated through every class I never got a chance to play on live here on RoR and I found mara to be my liking I like the atmosphere, mythos an armor of the class o I play it, never dealt with stance shifting before so for me its mechanically challenging, I sorry that I cant have as high skill ceiling as you all mighty, challanging “life-tap AM”, but us poor “mouth breather” plebs need to be able to play something too :/
This game is already “clique-y” with people already looking out for only themselves and their guild and their is nothing that the devs can do to change because it is quite simply human nature
I don’t go into the rvr lakes because first off their seems no place for mdps in seiges besides run around look stupid while you wait for the tank wall to do their thing because with out bypass defenses mdps don’t really have their role in keep sieges and furthermore the lakes are full of cocky SW’s who think their all that when they “gank” players with their totally legit KD, self-punt, snare combo but I look forward to seening what they can do once resolute defense is in game
So I play sc’s and work up my renown and that’s good enough for me and give me my rvr fix.

It is working. Its just hard so people dont bother to try.mickeye wrote:<3Penril wrote:
No but really, lifetap AM isn't working, same goes for melee healing WP/DoK. You're either dps or healer. I don't mind DPS healers, but there are situation I really wish that DoK or that AM was a proper healer.
I could play my wp and just spam gheal all day but I really dont see the point in not testing yourself.

Re: Why the (gear) grind?
There will always be a segment of any MMO for whom the hunt for gear with slightly higher numbers is the entire reason for playing, others like to accumulate as much gold as they can just to be able to say they're the richest person on the server, hoarding it in true Scrooge McDuck style.
That's just what they find happiness in. It would be cruel to take that away from them and tell them they need to play the game in a certain way, even if it is for the sake of everyone else so they don't just sit in the capital spamming trade offers all day long.

Re: Why the (gear) grind?
You might have a point if the main focus in this game was PvE. But everyone should know (and be convinced) by now that the main focus in WAR was/is/should always be RvR/PvP. And when a part of its design makes it so people spend more time in their cities than in the RvR lakes, something is very wrong.Waffenbaum wrote:There will always be a segment of any MMO for whom the hunt for gear with slightly higher numbers is the entire reason for playing, others like to accumulate as much gold as they can just to be able to say they're the richest person on the server, hoarding it in true Scrooge McDuck style.

Think of it this way: WoW is mainly a PvE game where people group up and clear dungeons. Then you have the ones who like to PvP. Can you imagine the rage over there if people were allowed to invade instances just like in ToVL? They would probly lose thousands of subs. Why? because it is first and foremost a PvE game and such a game mechanic would go against its very nature. Those who enjoy the PvE would not be able to tolerate being ganked in their own instances.
Same way those of us who love PvP/RvR can´t stand seeing empty lakes because people are grinding npc´s somewhere else.
Re: Why the (gear) grind?
Vendor with all the gear could be very nice indeed. All that "korean style" is annoying and outdated.
But drastically increasing drop rate from players can do the trick too, I think.

Re: Why the (gear) grind?
I did, for Open RvR. There are just checks on it to stop people from going into the lakes and farming alts.Aquilon wrote:But drastically increasing drop rate from players can do the trick too, I think.
Player drop rate in SCs is always 5%.

Personal opinion
Fun that most players always complain.
A little list of the last changes:
- Increased drop rates of all NPCs
- Fixed loot-tables to generic loot-tables
- Added player loot
- Added Gear Vendors till level 20
You don't even need to farm. You can gain everything by doing RvR or Scenarios and buying armor on the vendors, on auction house or dropping it from players.
People who farm farm for the e-peen.

Re: Why the (gear) grind?
I don't think any player has trouble with getting the baseline calamity gear, but also fitting a 15 gold mount into that equation stretches it a bit. My guild has about 20 players starting and with those who have already reached 20, or already had 20 it seems to confirm that. Most of us agree that the only way to have a mount and full calamity you would have to somewhere down the line get a decent woe drop from a t2 scen or the very rare instance of a PvE drop and sell it for ~20-50 gold. I was lucky enough to get a heater of woe which sold for 50g on my 1st character which helped tremendously. Without the drop you will probably get ~10-20 gold from the quests and random greens you might sell for some silver on the AH.Dana wrote:Personal opinion

I think the main problems with gearing are the fact the obliterator is not implemented, those are 3 core pieces that should be BiS for most people in T2 with powerful set bonuses. Secondly the game looks like it was setup for PvE loot mainly to be distributed via PQ bags, something we are deprived of.
Most people who find themselves on this server are by no means casual players... and that 10-20% increase of stats from woe/rune is something that will eat at their souls. People also often tend to strive for perfection in the form of gear before perfecting their actual skill at the game, and will trick themselves into not even trying until they have "good" gear. I see it a lot in T2 scenarios with lower level or undergeared people not even trying because they are just there for xp, or praying to the gods for a good drop.
