Sequencer works completely server side, but a side effect of that is your toolbar is not updating until your client receives the information from server. On paper there is nothing wrong with that, but in practice it makes sequencer totally unreliable.
I have been giving sequencer many chances every now and then, it still is horrible. So I end up just using my keyboard and mouse macros instead. Game should not have to rely on 3rd party software to be playable and there should be a properly functioning option that just works.
I will explain the issues;
1. Sequencer Not Moving to Next Skill: Until the client recieves the information from the server that sequencer has now moved to next skill, sequencer will keep displaying same skill. This makes you lose GDC, or fire of wrong skill in sequence.
2. Sequencer Not Resetting on selecting new friendly/enemy target: Same issue as above, there are many times I choose a new ally and fire off the sequence that starts with healing hands, and it instead uses the current skill on sequence from previous target on my new target.
3. Sequencer getting stuck on skill with CD: This one is the most frustrating one. I tested that with a simple sequence of 5s CD skill followed by no CD skill. No conditions apart from skip skills on CD. And even with such a simple sequence it gets stuck on skill with CD every now and then.
Now adding the fact that sequencer wont skip skills that can not be cast due to requirements, while just using a regular mouse macro that chains 4-5 skills with 0 input delay is capable of firing the first available one; sequencer is just so primitive. I had a break from RoR and a friend called me in and came back to have a look at things, but after playing GW2 this while I just cant bring myself to how bad controls and input situation is.
Suggestion is simple;
1. rework sequencer so that it is capable of what every single keyboard/mouse macro is capable; skipping skills that can not be used.
2. make it so that client doesn't have to wait for server confirmation to change skill. Right now server sends the info to client to update the button and client sends server what skill is used. Make it so that client send server 'what button is pressed' and server fires off the next skill in sequence assigned to that button without needing client to tell it what the skill is.
3. make potions work with sequencer. one of the silliest restrictions
I used to play MUD, and even in my MUD days I didnt endure such a shitty user interface, and that tells alot!
