Orb damage is considered precalculated Morale damage, so yes, it's true damage.

@Azarael: I already told you ingame yesterday and did some more testing on this. The artifact damage is in fact reduced by guard. When guarding the artifact carrier, the damage is pretty easy to outheal.

Have only played a couple SC's with the new change you made Az, but I am pretty sure it has done a lot to stop camping, and force fights on even ground at middle (team composistion willing anyways).
But I am still afraid that getting the artifact 1st is too great of an advantage? If the artifact holder happens to be a s/b tank and has 4+ healers on him it is extremely difficult or impossible to kill him until the damage really starts ramping up which can take so long that the lead gained is too much to come back from. Increasing the damage ticks so that it is virtually impossible to survive after a minute or so would make things a bit more interesting I think.

Im sure i remember on live if you held the orb for long enough it would eventually 1 shot you. Also maybe it would be a good idea to have it reset to the middle of the temple when it's dropped or after a set amount of time so after the initial fight that results in spawn camping the fight would then move back to the temple even if only briefly.

The fail it's that with so many tank and heal you can pretty take the artifact for too long, when it drop if it the same faction can re take it, it hurt....
Wouldn't be better if the one that made the killing blow would auto get the relic?
While indeed if the keeper die for its damage it remain on the field for 5 sec then it reset.
That way you encurage ppl to not die instead die in good position.
You could even set the relic to auto reset for every death so that you cannot just pass it each time.

relic should make X% damage not pure damage, that way only tank could take the orb cos they would be the only able to substan those damage.

I like the deathblow idea, I think the auto reset would just turn the SC into whoever controls mid wins. yea most likely a dps will get it and so there will be more relic exchange.

I dont know if anyone reported that issue, but I could not leave scenario with orb equiped when scen ended.
