Why did the cosmetic appearance for this change? It used to look like a Khorne shield, and then without warning it just completely changed appearance. Are there plans to turn it back?

Unfortunately, it Khorne doesn't fit in with the game's lore, and the devs are very serious about keeping the lore intact. Luckily, there are other options to personalize your character that mesh with the lore. You could find an alternate lore-friendly mount like a pig or sheep, or get a lore-friendly Santa hat during the lore-friendly Christmas event. But that's just to get you started. I'm sure others could suggest more lore-friendly alternatives as well!

(But actually, halflings riding War Pigs or Battle Rams is very much part of the lore, which is why you earn them during the Halfling event, and Keg End is also very much a real part of the world which occurs at the end of the year.)

Yes, we all know that War Pigs are more lore than Khorne shields.

Unfortunately, cool things that don't directly affect the game's flow are eliminated in minutes. And the most interesting thing is that they were already there, created by the original team, but they're not part of the lore, cough cough...

Now look at the important things, like the incredibly mobile white lion using an AoE skill that takes half a tank's HP... that one's okay... cough cough...

Let the players have fun with their fashion show.
