The ability to converse with the enemy has lead to you essentially just kill rinse and repeat other human beings like a sociopath.

Back in star wars galaxies or everquest you could fraternise with them in public areas and duel them also this lead to pseudo celebrities on either side plus forum flaming and a generally awesome community to be apart of...thats all gone now because if little timmy is off his meds and you rek him a little too much he'll go shoot up his school and we can't have that in a health capitalistic society...plus he might stop playing and we they surely wouldn't allow that. so the carebears win and we get factions unable to converse with factions and a general lack of interest in them unless we create our own duel zones like in caledor etc.

I played swtor recently and when i wasn't standing in a dead pvp area with noone in it for hours i queued for the small scenarios where it was 6v6 and i might aswell have been playing cod.

I would have to disagree with the disable "cross realm" chat idea.
I mean, what's the big deal? A MINOR, yet vocal part of the playerbase is getting annoyed because

DAoC had realm pride going for it.

99% of games have adopted a culture of banter and **** talking, and it's not something you will ever change, nor do I want to see the devs do things like remove /say chat to stop it. As long as it doesn't cross a taboo line like racism, or turns into constant harassment I think it is fine.

If you want to call someone trash that is fine, but don't send them 50 tells and constantly harass them after the fact.

As far as this server is concerned, most people here are "hardcore" so there is bound to be a lot more nerdrage here than you would of ever seen on live. The community is small, and your actions/words have greater consequences here due to that low population. If someone wants to be an asshole and isolate themselves within their guild/friends that is their choice.

As a proud american I would like to see as much free speech as possible.

Its a different generation of mmo players...swg was in a previous era, and i agree it was much more mature and respectful.
Disabling xrealm chat is not the answer imo.
