@the guys who are upset that the game isn't being worked on in the way they think it should be, please take some time to think about the position your asking from, and remember that the guys working on this game are dedicated. It might not be ready tomorrow, but I can tell you that the guys working on this game deserve our praise. At first this server was really laggy and hard to play from Colorado. But within 2 weeks the lag was very much improved, and I could at least play. And nordenwatch is playable. It hasn't been that long, and I would say that alot of good progress has been made so far.

I started reading this and i must say, i am appalled that you would even write this. The dev team is tiny, and in the short amount of time that this server has been up, they have made leaps and bounds in progress. You do not pay for this, you have not helped so far, sit back like the rest of us and be patient. The more you whinge about things not being done in "priority" the less time the devs have to actually fix those things.
I do not speak for everyone, but i just want to remind the devs that I am grateful for all the hard work that you guys have put into this server so far ESPECIALLY as it is in your own free time and you are not getting paid. Just wish that everyone had some common sense and realized that too.

If actively add new developers to the game in time there will be more people that would stay on project and numbers of loyal members will increase.
You can always assign new members to work on stuff that core team is currently not working so it would not effect their work with possible setbacks if new member stop working on that particular part of the game.
To be honest, unless you've got a good understanding and experience of the C# language. It's pretty much a miss fire of an attempt.

You will struggle to find anyone decent enough to help for free ;) Fact.
Many of open source program are made by people that do it in their free time and give ti for free also. fact. :D

True it will take time find people that are willing to help you with knowing of programing in their free time but in order to find them you need to try continuously. ;)

On side-note in this link http://www.returnofreckoning.com/forum/ ... f=11&t=489 i was give that show how to help developers if you don't know programing skills.
Can you tell me do i need some specific PC requirement to set it up and besides NPC location can you fix quest with it?

This isn't some small free-source code ;)

As long as your system can run the client. Running a local server and game can be done. The server uses about 600MB RAM and runs through several dos applications so little CPU power is required.

Open letter from the Community to Devs? Are these freaking idiots serious?

Do they actually believe that our devs do not know about what they need to do?

If you can help the server, you won't be saying stupid things in forums, you will contact the devs right away and start working.

Reality is No one is a freaking expert, or knows how to freaking help, only 3 people or so is actually working on the server when they can!

If you can't help them or help the server for real, get the **** off!

Late to the party, however...
The OP should really be titled 'Open Letter from SOME of the Community to the Devs' rather than pertaining to be the opinion of everyone.

After the official shutdown last year I never thought that I would play WAR again. Personally i am overjoyed that i can just log into WAR. I am very surprised that there is now criticism of Dev priorities after they have actually got a server up and running for us to play on.

Players do get frustrated and there is a danger of people leaving, but lets be honest here, the game will probably always have a very very low population of just die-hard fans anyway, but that type of player will stick with the game through the current alpha, the long way off beta, and the hopeful beyond.

Clearly the Dev's are massive fans of the game themselves and that's why we even have a server. As said a million times over on this forum, this is not a profit making exercise. At the moment the community has no right at all to criticize anything. Deal with the flaws, play the game as it is right now, and be fortunate that we have got back a little piece of our WAR.

Not all open source are small if fact many are very big and complex. :D
In fact there are entire mmos that are opensource. RyzomCore and PlaneShift come to my mind.

Thank you for the info. The hardware itself is not a problem(work and own game center and computer shop) just wanted to know what specification machine need to have so i can build it and try this out.

The resources are very simple. As long as you follow the guide Nalgol has provided. You will be up and running with your own private server.

Once you fix something in the database how do You exactly send that fixed part back to be implemented do i need to upload it somewhere or send it to someone?
