Day 1 Experience on server

First of all, I would like to start out by saying I started playing Warhammer Online back in the beta, and I played it all the to the point the servers closed(granted I slept). Warhammer Online has always been a wonderful game for me and I have made so many good friends playing it and have so many incredible memories exploring this world. The day the servers closed for good was a sad day for MMO's and the people playing them. No more was Warhammer to be an MMO that other games could learn from, time and time again MMO's have been released since, that fail to achieve what this game has for so many different reasons. I am truly happy I recently discovered this website, and the server provided by it. Words cannot explain how much this experience has brought the fanboy out of me which I had lost so many years ago.

Yesterday I started into the world of Warhammer again and am very happy to say that I am so pleased with this server, this website and the whole idea behind it. I'm thankful that these developers have gone through whichever trouble they had to, to make this all possible. It is clear that they shared the same passion as I did for this game and they are doing a wonderful job with bringing this whole experience back to life again for everyone to enjoy and share.

I probably played over 100 scenerio's over the past two days and I have not yet slept as of writing this. I completed the open RvR "kill 25 players" quest a multitude of times with no loss of interest in the entire time I played. To make things more interesting I played a role on destruction I was never very familiar with playing the entire time I played the game before the Live servers closed. I chose the witch elf because I wanted to get into the battle with some high DPS and be stealthy and flank the enemy, something I am used to while playing the witch hunter back on live. The results were very satisfying for me and I look forward to each chance I get to play with the witch elf again.

Granted the server is in alpha, there are going to be certain bugs and exploits on the server. On the Nordenwatch scenerio for example I had flanked a Runepriest, he turned around after I knocked him off his mount and cast a dot on me, then continued to run away as I followed closely attacking him from behind. He then cast the Flee ability but as he ran he continued to cast HoT's onto himself and returned his life back to max. To make matters worst , after I turned away from chasing him to head to the fort objective he emoted the laugh at me numerous times. But there are more things I would like to discuss that I experienced on the server. The brightwizards AoE line of sight seems to have an exploit of sorts in specific situations. What I have noticed is, if you are in their line of sight and they cast a DoT on you and you continue to take cover they can cast Fiery Blast (AoE) and it will go threw any obstruction such as trees, stone walls, or terrain. Another bug I have discovered is related to a patch that warhammer had implemented in the live servers to combat people with slow connections, which if I remember correctly meant the ping of their connection would be compensated with increased range on physical and magical ranged attacks(bows and arrows) which concluded in me being hit with fireballs from well over 300 meters in worst cases. I have also suspected a few players that were speedhacking, it seems to me that the speedhack they are using could be from cheat engine which when enabled does not grant them faster run speed, but if they are jumping while running the speed hack launches them forward in the air each time they jump. I have witnessed 3 different players on a flat terrain(not running downhill) jumping and gaining 150 meters distance between me from where they started. I can easily estimate that they could very well jump over and over like this and get across the t1 orvr lake in nordland very quickly. Another bug I have found was familiar to me on warhammer live back in the first year of release, and very rarely following which is when I join a scenerio, either safe in the warcamp or in an oRvR lake I will die as soon as I get into the scenerio after loading. There is another bug within the scenerio I have found where it seems that the scoreboard is not accurately representing the match's stats for myself. It will only give me kills for which I have had the killing blow for, yet others on the scoreboard have shared kills and it really singles me out among the rest of the players on both teams as always having the least kills. Another bug within the scenerio is often it will display at the end of the match's scoreboard that I have gained 0 exp and 0 renown. In open RvR similar to how in the scenerios it will only display the kills I have gotten the killing blows for, more often then not I only gain a kill for the kill quest in the same manor. Which at lower levels as a witch elf took a while to complete those quest until I was adequately geared and could get the kills on my own. Some other issues I had in open RvR where getting stuck on the ordnances while shadow warriors were kiting me, this seems to be exploited by them for use as a trap, and I have had to learn the locations of such ordnances to avoid being stuck while chasing them. These are some of the things I can think of that should be looked at in terms of RvR and SC's.

So to end my day, after I reached level 11, got the decimator set and the renown gear for my level and specified my renown points, I went to the city to learn my professions and masteries, and to start leveling up cultivating and apothecary. The cultivating window probably froze on me at least a dozen times, resulting in me having to logout and back in, which resulted in me losing various materials used in the process of crafting. As I was having this issue a guildie of mine was having the same with apothecary, although he seemed to get the worst of it as he had to relog more times than I can remember and it started to become a laughable event each time it did. Also I purchased a seed from the auction house and took the item out of the mailbox but the notification for when you have mail was stuck on the minimap afterwards, causing me to recheck the mailbox multiple times to see if anything I had listed was sold because I needed the money for more materials. Which brings me to my conclusion on this subject. What do you do when your in the city crafting? You read the chat box, and I gotta say that the advice chat, is hardly being used for advice.(laughs) It seems to have become a tool on this server which gives those who seek the opportunity to troll to do so. The worst part of this is the ignore button doesn't work for me, and I have to see and weave through all the random stuff that shouldn't be there just to offer assistance to those I can who really need help, not to menchion close to none of the questions I asked on it were answered themselves, nor anyone else. I believe it is in serious need of some moderation or revision to prevent such abuse. Coming back to the game after so many years I feel I almost meant to rely on the advice chat to answer any questions I may have about the server.

In conclusion, I understand this game is in alpha, I know what that entails. And despite all of this, the bugs, exploits, I found myself at home at last, in the game I always enjoyed playing and devoting my time and energy into so many years. I truly believe in the developers when I say they not only can pull this off, they already have! I just look forward to the future and the progression of this server and community and wish nothing but the best. I can say now that I am addicted all over again, and very thankful and very satisfied.

Keep up all the good work!

Yours truly, TooL :D

Please put all your found bugs in the buglist with screenshots and descriptions. Only that way they can be identified and fixed. I doubt that the devs will try to reread your wall of text and try to extract any information.

The bugtracker is on top of this page. Only with you the game can get better.

hi.. what you think you saw as a speed hack players moving quickly was highly unlikely that it was so... What u prolly saw was just a lag spike where players positions were not updated quickly enough for you, then all of a sudden when the game 'caught up', those players seemed to have moved a great distance...
Note that your mount type makes a difference on speed as well.

welcome back btw

Great post! Very interesting reading your thoughts on day 1 back in the Old World. My experiences are and have been similar and I also love this game a great deal and was saddened when it ended. And I too am very happy to be back! I've had a lot of fun on this server and look forward to the future.

Great to have you here, now lets get back out there in the lakes and have us some stunty cuttin', Oomie stabbin', pointy ear choppin' fun!!! :)
