Advanced players defend bottom floor with ranged DD behind the tank wall. And melee DD on both sides of the door to deal with people coming through.
Being on the wall just creates a single visible target for multiple enemies to focus on.
Furthermore, when you want to cast from the walls, make sure to have heals and/or guard.
1) I am talking abt Def while doors are still up. If doors are open, obviously one bottlenecks the opponent there. Point is that AoE BW spam constantly hits the area in front of the still-closed doors as a preemptive bottleneck, which is a major component of why Destro gets hammered taking keeps and oft cannot even get the door dn. Destro cannot pounce the BWs, so has more issues Def *before door dn*, than Order.
W/regard to those who still manage to AoE THRU the door before it is dn. . . AFAIK, DPS thru doors before they are burst is an exploit. Sure, lots of ppl (most) do it, and maybe it is based on mechanics that are hard to patch, but it sure looks and smells like an exploit, and I've heard ppl say as much. If it's not an exploit, all I can say is that it sure looks like one.
2) BW AoE max range is almost irrelevant, as it only needs to saturate right in front of the door. Attacker LoS may potentially be blocked via crenelations: position oneself in such a way to make it neccessary for opponents to get near the keep, and in range of other ppl's attks. Again: advatage to the wall-top. Admittedly, I suspect I have been hit while behind such cover, tho that may have been lag issue.
3) Ordo Def also has SW up to 110 range. Sorcs, especially, likely to drop from SW b4 BW HP bar moves, and may still need to walk thru fire as well, if BW plays smart w/positioning. BWs not AOEing have full range to Def, ofc. And yet, BWs stay atop walls and seem to nvr drop, because not enough ppl can get near enough on the right angle to drop them when they are guarded and healed. That one extra MELEE class getting through, w/ a pet, makes for a lot of furry fury in your face while trying to spam spells.
