Tome unlock rewards/event quests

Post#1 » Wed Nov 04, 2015 11:44 am

With the current focus on the lag fixing, I know this is a low priority suggestions. But hear me out.

There's been plenty of threads on appearance gear and options, which has seem grow over the past months due to the lack of focus on RvR fixes and the long awaited T3 release. Most of the nice appearance items we got on live were from the Tome of Knowledge unlocks. These seem to be bit hard to code, so I'm suggesting a few ways to get around the tedious Bestial token/cloak killcount farming. These suggestions are;

1. Bring back the Mantle of the Fireborn/Pegasus Cloak quests
With these cloaks being Bind on Pickup, they should either be made Bind on Equip so that they can be traded from our unplayed alts to our mains, or allowed to be re-obtained with the re-introduction of this quest. If we have the Birthday cloak quest available for all-time, why not these cloaks?

2. Add more cloaks from the ToK unlocks through the existing cloak quest
The green dragonscale cloak from the Heavy Metal event was one of the nicest looking cloaks around, and it'd be amazing to see them brought back in-game. Also, the infamous 100,000 squig kills cloak would be nice to see as well. They could be added through a hard questline or added as a reward for the current Birthday cloak quest.

3. Introduce Bestial tokens through kill grind quests
Since the ToK unlocks are hard to re-introduce for Bestiary unlocks, have some quest givers that require you to kill 500-1000 of a certain mob (or even player kills), with a Bestial token as reward. There's already trophy merchants in IC that can be used, we just need a way to obtain the Bestial tokens again. This could also be used as a way to obtain Long-Forgotten tokens for the special appearance reward vendors in Altdorf/IC.

4. Fix the trophy quests in the beginning chapters
I've already reported a full trophy fix guide on the bugtracker about this here, and knowing that it's low priority it hasn't been fixed yet. However, a lot of people would appreciate the ability to get their own class trophies again.

Here's just a personal bugfix I'd like to see implemented;

5. Fix the Choppa/Slayer items that have their models missing
This is probably the most tedious fix of them all. All the the Choppa/Slayer armor influence rewards have missing models, while other classes have the ability to wear unique NPC armor through influence items with the 'generic' icon models. Giving the Choppa/Slayer influence items that lack appearance the "Armor_med_02_A" models, with the suffix being that of the armor slot it relates to (body, helm, gloves, boots, belt), would certainly make the Choppas and Slayers stop whining about their lack of clothes.

I know that fixing the lag and unlocking T3 is of a higher priority in the face of my suggestions, but I hope they're something to consider, as some of them should be easy to implement. I'd also love to hear feedback/extra suggestions from you guys/the devs.

They're also ToK unlocks for some tedious bullshit around the world which all needs coding and fixing, that's a good idea
