Change frontal arc to 160 degrees?

I know that this is going to be controversial and I was very hesitant to voice this thought, but would it be a good idea or a bad idea to change the frontal arc to 160 degrees rather than 180 degrees?

The intended outcome of this change is that ranged classes would be able to kite and attack (optimally) for a decent length of time rather than (theoretically) FOREVER.

Would this be too imbalancing?

Yes it would.
Also, running by degree (basically, shooting behind back) are always going at a bit lower speed

It affects healers too and the number of people who CAN kite is already abysmal, why punish them even further?

It's an unnecessary suggestion with all the tools available to catch kiters and even more to come.
I really hope this idea wasn't born after a 1vs1 defeat against a kiter.

I would have thought that healers (who, when running away from melee, only need to target themselves) would be the least affected by the change.

Maybe it's the oceanic lag speaking but melee snares never seem to work even against someone running away in a straight line, even when you're close enough to lick their tonsils clean.

I've resigned myself to the fact as an SM that I'll need to live long enough to get to M2 (in T4, mind you) before I can catch the average kiter. I do feel, however, that any fight were you can't win and you can't escape from is GREAT fun for one party and not-a-fight-at-all for the other.

I'm lucky enough to run with a SW most nights and it's shocking how the ranged knock-down can turn a fight from "we're being farmed" to "we have a fighting chance". This is assuming, of course, that the SW doesn't get ranged disarmed.

Honestly though: running at 160 degrees from a target would mean that someone running at the same speed would still need 10 to 20 seconds (pulling numbers out of thin air, here) to close on a kiter.

Let me turn this question around: how many seconds do you think a melee class should need to chase a kiter before getting in range? If your answer is "never", even if the kiter doesn't snare, then at least we can agree to disagree.

Hell, even a 178 degree frontal arc would at least not be 'infinity seconds to catch up'.

Fully disclosure: I HAVE been killed 1 v 1 against a kiter before and I have raged about it before. However, it's more the feeling when party members start logging because they're being farmed that prompted me to post.

The healer has to heal others while moving.

You basically don't chase a kiter unless you have tools to snare them.
You either are able to disengage or you have backup with heals or other rdps.
When the kiter does no mistakes he will always win an 1vs1, when the fight starts at distance.

When the kiter uses no snare or kd, then you automatically reach him after some time, when he continues to attack you.
Dying is no option.
