VP system was a good thing!
If our devs dont want change the actual system, pls atleast need to take 2 keeps for a zone lock, and aao count take/steal bos.

hicks dont be so negative, i dont think its all about what aza can do or not, people are pationate they like to discuss, they like to thing and engineer think, no matter how high the chance of implementing it is.
discussing our most favorite topic is a GOOD thing imho, it shows how dedicated people are to this game.
this is without judging how usefull the suggestions are of course

Yeah I don't see what is wrong with proposing hypothetical solutions to problems see in the game in hopes enoug people agree that change is implemented.
I think with the initial proposal on how to fix and encourage minority realm to partake in keep defenses along with the ideas presented here to encourage more players to participate in assaulting keeps we have the blueprints for a winning and fair system.
I will once again take the suggestions listed here and draft another thread with the ideas that seemed to have the most support. I will let this thread sit a bit longer to allow for more ideas or critiques on the ideas provided.

boog i dont know if open continusly new topic could piss moderator cos maybe would be better to keep all in one topic updating the main post rather than open again new topic to get more attention .

Re: Ways to Discourage PvDoor and Encourage ORvR
Scenarios are more or less the only way to get an in numbers balanced fight.Ade wrote:There is one other change I would propose, change scenarios. I think we can all be honest and just say that scenarios are used for 2 things, farming for a weapon, and for premades its for flopping your manhood out and acting like a big shot.
I would propose the removal of soldier medallions from scenarios, as well as the new quests to be void while inside, that way people will not just farm scenarios in order to get the medallions that should only be attained from ORvR.
I believe that a change like this combined with the keep defence changes would make people more active in the lakes, but hey, maybe we are just the one guild that thinks scenarios are a bane to the game.
I understand it's horrible for people who just want to zerg smaller numbers without effort.

Re: Ways to Discourage PvDoor and Encourage ORvR
whole topic tl;dr..
My 2 cents:
Only thing that you guys should think about for now is:
How can you get a 100v100 zerg in one zone into 2x 50v50 in 2 open zones. Literally every time there is one huge Zerg in a Zone, allthough one other or even 2 others are open as well. Find a solution for that before talking about anything else.
If already mentioned somewhere, link pls

Re: Ways to Discourage PvDoor and Encourage ORvR
It's difficult to address as the problem is down to player attitude.
If you do A someone will only say they only do B and shouldn't be punished for doing B.
If you do B someone will only say they only do A and shouldn't be punished for doing A.
Dont forget that VP locks included SCs to lock the zone and took ages.
I like some of the ideas tbh, implementation will be tricky. We are currently enjoying fighting Porn Factory and Nazgul in the lakes more than the structured side of keep takes atm anyway.
Just remember guys, oRVR is just what you make it. If Medallions are droping too slowly it just means your warband is getting sod all killing blows. Organize a Warband, have some fun. If you don't want to, this game probably isn't for you atm and you people should take a break and come back in some patches time.

If you had read the proposla which you admitted to not you would have realized that is exactly what the plans were to combat and that the entire discussion was regarding that matter.noisestorm wrote:whole topic tl;dr..

If you want links that show it just read the thread. That was the point of it.
As I discussed in my initial post this kind of feedback is not helpful. Clearly people already have all of these utilities at their disposal and it does not fix the problem. If it were that simple the issue would not exist and this discussion would not be necessary.Zanilos wrote:It's difficult to address as the problem is down to player attitude.

You can't expect issues with a game to fixed by just simply saying, "change your attitude". If you class had an important skill that did not work properly or at all and you were simply told to just change your attitude about it, I am fairly certain you would not just sit there and go you are right. I could be wrong that might be how some people decide to address issues. I, and it would seem other members of the community that actually want to help fix issues, instead try to find ways in which that issue can be resolved so that all parties are happy.
ORvR is NOT what YOU make of it. It is in its name REALM vs REALM, not PLAYER vs PLAYER. RoR is a RvR game which means its open world PvP mechanics are based on entire realms fighting one another not individualized players running around performing individualized tasks.
If your WB is not getting enough medallions it is because either your warband is being dominated by the zerg or there is no defense to oppose your zerg. And it is next to impossible to organize a warband when you are on the minority realm because people don't want to be farmed by the majority realm for no gains. As it stands right now if you defend a zone you gain NOTHING AND give the enemy realm MORE rewards which provides them with better gear. There is no incentive to defend only for offense and when there is absolutely no incentive to defend and it actually ends up giving your enemy realm an even further advantage by doing so why bother?
You say,
You say stop and wait for a patch to fix things. Aren't patches in this game largely formed and influenced off of player discussion? So how are patches to fix the issues suppose to happen without player discussion?Zanilos wrote: Organize a Warband, have some fun. As I said in my initial post these kinds of responses are not helpful or constructive. Your point does not offer any ideas or discussion towards how to fix the problem it only exacerbates it.
If you have any ACTUAL ideas on ways to give players incentive to either invade or defend I would LOVE to hear them.

Re: Ways to Discourage PvDoor and Encourage ORvR
Well, on live you had action in more than one zone because zones didnt flip as fast as here. You needed to rank a keep to Rank 4 in order to get a Ram (you could damage the door with cannons and Rat Ogres but it took forever). You only gained resources while holding a BO (and your resource carriers could be ganked!). Constant flipping of BOs made ranking a keep to 4 in a contested zone a slow task.noisestorm wrote:whole topic tl;dr..

You would go to, let's say, Talabecland. No enemies are there, and a group from your realm is taking care of the BO's (your keep is Rank 2). So you flew to Avelorn and OH! AAO! Sweet, let's take back BO's and kill enemies (possibly at the BO's sending Resource Carriers and ranking up their own keeps). After several skirmishes, you would read in T4 chat: "We are rank 4 in Talabecland, moving to enemy keep with a ram". You then went back to Talabecland and helped in the keep siege.
I suggested making the lakes similar to a huge SC. Your realm would gain points over time when holding "flags" (BOs). Once you reach, say, 1500 points, your realm will be able to attack the enemy keep. This will "feel" kinda similar to 1.4.8 resource carrier system since you will need to constantly fight over BO's and, depending on how many points you need to attack the enemy keep (or the rate at which you gain those points), flipping a zone could take a while. Of course, if both realms reach 1500 points they will be able to attack at the same time and might ignore BOs from there on. But BO's could still help with door regen/lord's health or stuff like that, so you still need to control the BO's.
TL;DR: Ranking up a zone in 1.4.8 (so you could take it) took longer than RoR's system, where basically one side takes all 4 BOs and then waits for the timer ("keeps are now attackable" or something like that) while the defending side waits at their keep hoping they can get a few kills before being wiped.
