Re: Reintroductions and reflections.
All the 'purists'/code thieves seem to forget the playerbase had shrunk due to balance problems not being fixed to the point all devs had been laid off. So they couldnt change anything at that point anyway. Maybe if the game wasnt so 'pure' this server wouldnt have been needed.

Re: Reintroductions and reflections.
Hey Aza, Hao here, a well constructed first post i must say, you totally nailed it.
to people who is lazy to read aza's first post, TLDR;
and you decided to comeback to rescue ror. un-banning people is definetly a good step up; the fact is, people who's perma banned didn't stop playing, you know, vpn's. sad part is, most of them quit the game already. there are several reasons why, no need to go details.
1-For me the main problem of ror is; team don't know what kind of community they want to build. that causing a lot of problems. current game is not fitting both competitive-casual players. too boring/bad balanced for competitive players, too hardcore for casual players.
if you guys want to have competitive players, you will have:
+ real feedback
+ bug reports
+ gameplay progress
+ solid playerbase
+ campaign progress
if the things goes bad, you will notice some side effects:
-salt
-flak
on the other hand, if you want to build a casual-only community, you will have;
+popularity
+human resource
-disloyalty
-bad gameplay experience
-stalled campaign
it's up to you which one will be better for the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. i simply don't know the answer.
2-Another problem is, everything is so personal. a random guy from internet have the power to say ;
" it's my server, you need to obey whatever i say, if not, you are not a customer at all. goodbye. "
and he's definetly right, same like the other private-products. it's a side effect of playing in a private server. you have to deal with it or kindly gtfo. but also, it's way too tiresome to be competitive when you know damocle's sword is around.
to sum up, what i learned from ror is, private servers are generaly waste of time [like 30-40 hours in a week
] , if you wanna be competitive. if you are casual and play 1 hour per day, it's ok; it's free, it's kinda working and the most important part is : it's warhammer.
note: good luck with fixing this

Re: Reintroductions and reflections.
My first comment is to echo this sentiment. I read the OP and a few of the pages following however given my penchant for avoiding internal politics I didn't dedicate an abundance of time to decoding the individual nuance. If the staff here want's to lighten up a bit I am all for that, and if Az believes he can be a source of aid to the server I am all for that as well. Fortissimus quisque tantum superest.

It should be noted that even those so-called purists aren't sticking to 1.4.8 either.Telen wrote: ↑Tue Jul 31, 2018 11:54 am All the 'purists'/code thieves seem to forget the playerbase had shrunk due to balance problems not being fixed to the point all devs had been laid off. They are introducing their own version of orvr and changing abilities as they see fit.
It's really no different in the end, with the exception of them not having Aza to make all the complicated code changes.

Re: Reintroductions and reflections.
These two 'factions' of players are not even remotely as simply delineated as you claim. Casual does not equate to stupid and competitive does not equate to quality feedback, nor a solid player base. Competitive players are just as likely to be quitters when they lose as casuals are when they get bored, or to give biased feedback to get an edge as casuals are to 'not understand' the issue.Sophia wrote: ↑Tue Jul 31, 2018 1:36 pm if you guys want to have competitive players, you will have:

I wish all the best for the future of RoR development and hope that there will be enough time and will to cater to more than just a hardcore handful. I'm happy to be patient and give all the time needed to that end. No demands, ultimatums or salt are ever needed in feedback.

Re: Reintroductions and reflections.
I think, my own personal opinion, is that the problems can be described to two words.
Noblesse oblige
We are all guests of the server but without us there is no server.
