this is something I agree with but 2-2-2 is the "meta" the game is based on, whether I think that is right or not is not the point. But you can escape the SC balance system Az posted about by queing as a group and then you can run whatever you would like. But in solo que type situations 2-2-2 would promote the most balance, even fights between solo quers, most often I feel. I would rather say it is favoring mdps since rpds have troubles killing a guarded mdps before it is in range and lowers their dmg through pressure. That is why 2-2-2 teams with rdps struggled on live and still do at the current lvl cap in RoR.
For rdps I would suggest 1-3-2, they dont need to be guarded 24/7 so one tank is enough.

I remember reading somewhere that they wanted a 1 tank 4 dps 1 healer meta but 2-2-2 beats the **** out of that free.
If you ask me, what they intended is not even remotely close to what we have, Mythic vision of the game went out the window before the game was even released.

You have to think in the context of PUGs / solo players. 2-2-2 requires less skill on the individual level than 3-2-1 etc... it also requires less communication to execute properly. I also think people are overstating what this change is suppose to do, it's just a small step up from what we currently deal with rather than a totally fleshed out match making system.

Well we could make a study on pugs to determine how often a guard tank actually is in guardrange of a rdps when he needs it. Give a rdps 5 pug tanks and no one will be there when he gets focused. So are we going to take l2p as an argument when talking about pugs or not?

I guess I was an idiot just arguing for the sake of it that time.
So the manager would be putting together 2-2-2 groups with 2 MDPS, or 3-2-1 groups with 2 RDPS 1 MDPS. What other comps could it try to put together or prioritize when certain archetypes/classes are in que?
Also will it ever discriminate against certain classes when putting together non 2-2-2 groups? Tanks like IB/BG are no where near as good as the other 2 when it comes to solo tanking. And what about heal debuffs? Would be pretty harsh getting into a 3-2-1 group that has say 2 engineers and a BaL WH. I am not trying to throw things offtopic just curios if such a thing was possible so this last part is @Az

My suggestion is just to take the first 12 people that queued up from on side (if not premade they will have a random composition), divide them into the 4 categories (tank, healer, rdps, mdps) and match them with 12 from the other side with the same amount of archetypes.
Enabling 12 rdps vs 12 rdps and such crazy possibilities.
Pugging would be fair.
It is more difficult when a lot of premades and semi built premades are queueing.
