I was honestly suprised about this being the first MMO private server not offering a new player forum with a guide sticky.
Especially given how scarce any sort of online guides seem to be, most of which barely scratch the surface.
This is turning out to be a more frustrating experience than learning EVE Online.

Re: New Player section desperately needed
what ever you wanted to know you can just ask in the individual fourms or in general
new player sub was not really needed cause most of the players are new or returning members of the game from live

It saddens me that completely new players to Warhammer Online aren't welcome then.TenTonHammer wrote:new player sub was not really needed cause most of the players are new or returning members of the game from live
Re: New Player section desperately needed
New players are always welcome. We, the RoR team actively encourage the community to tell their friends and others to come back or give the game a try.
If you ever feel you need answers you can ask them on the forum or in game. There's always a good size group of players that help out new players.

what do you think should be explained for new players
Re: New Player section desperately needed
We, as a rule, resulting from emotional trauma stemming from the dEAth [see what I did there with a cEArtain company's logo?] of our Home Sweet Home Away From Home; from the way in which our 'Child' was cared for over it's all too short life of only 5 years by the very team who put it to dEAth one week before the Winter Holiday, December 18, 2013, THE fifth anniversary of W.A.R.'s official launch (something that so rarely gets done, the action and the company acting were held in scrutiny from places and entities that don't usually waste energy dishing disdain), and it hurt us all, relatively; to differing degrees, but degrees that run deep, and tend to bleed long...
Many of us are still a bit shredded internally, if not even still raw, over The Taking Away, and losing... so... many... dear... friends... and companions
have recently learned through enduring a DDOS enough to keep us all from playing for a few days time; being shown there are actually mother f****rs around who want and will invest energy in seeing this grand idea fail miserably, gloating on how trolly a troll they can be...
That we tend to respond out of deep hurt, and a longing that no mother f****r is going to pry our world, our friends, and our families out of our cold, dead avatars fingers ever again.
Not only are we welcoming and nurturing to new players, of all styles and time constraints, but we are FIERCELY PROTECTIVE OF THE GIFT WE'VE BEEN GIVEN AND THE NEW PLAYERS WHO WANT TO SEE WHAT IT IS THEY'RE MISSING BY NOT BEING A PART OF THIS. And damnitall, I'm very sorry you inferred that about our community, but we will not tolerate anything that seeks or seems to hurt Our Baby.
My main is Gnashspike Rhaylphist, Legacy of Legends guild (LoL), Destruction, incepted during live, seeing many returning members/friends. If you would ask what is on your mind; within 24 hours there will be thousands of community members who peruse these forums. You will be answered or guided to answer(s) that will have you excited and asking more questions of us.
Welcome. Ask us (in forums or in game after you dive in). We're stoked you're looking at this awesome Alpha project and most of us, shoulder to shoulder with you, or toe to toe against you, sincerely want you here and asking to learn. Hope this gave you some gentle perspective as to our proclivities. See you in the (RvR) lakes. Good Hunting!
*edit: would rather you were 'guided' to answers than 'guilded' to them.

Classes (their roles and how effective they are at fulfilling the various ones; the wiki is rather vague)Tsumina wrote:what do you think should be explained for new players
Progression and Game Concepts (what are you supposed to do as a new player? how do PvP and PvE tie into each other and how do they work?)
Crafting (you'd first have to start off at what the various stats do; which ones are important in the current meta, so people don't just craft random useless things; how the various professions tie into each other)
I figured a lot of those out through trial any error myself. In a very frustrating way that made me nearly drop the game.
For example I made a Magus yesterday and he plays a lot differently than I expected. Lack of Range, lack of damage, clusterfuck of abilities. As a new player you'll ask yourself: Is the class straight up useless? Am I playing it wrong? Does it get it's good abilities later?

Re: New Player section desperately needed
You started with a Magus? Root of the problem. The Magus is probably one of the most difficult classes to master, pretty underpowered in the lower tiers, and in the current end-game they only serve the purpose of using ONE mastery ability that tends to change the tide of battle when used effectively; Daemonic Rift.Mindmaker wrote:Classes (their roles and how effective they are at fulfilling the various ones; the wiki is rather vague)Tsumina wrote:what do you think should be explained for new players

Re: New Player section desperately needed
I think that was the point of that post, really. A new player wouldn't know this kind of thing. Or the many small things that get asked on /advice all the time, the exact same questions, because there's no way a new player would know them. Sure, people can ask on /advice (if they are aware that the issue exists in the first place), but some kind of guide on the forums for people who bother to check what goes on here before playing would be useful.RyanMakara wrote:You started with a Magus? Re: New Player section desperately needed
it's true that there was a section about classes and archtype on the live site, which let you think better what create, it would be also better create a section with every single balance change done so that ppl know if something is not also correctly display and can also decide what class create cos not every one could be able to follow every balance discussion in future / or create a http://waronlinebuilder.org/ builder here with fixed skills.
