First of all, having two gear sets (main spec / off spec) is a briliant idea. It is a major improvement compared to live, especially for a retarded mdps dok like myself - on live ones like me could really enjoy gameplay only starting with Sovereign gear.
However, I do not get why certain set is bound to a specific activity: one set is obtainable exclusively by playing scenarios, the other one - by rvr-ing. I do not get why it makes sense to force people to perform activities they are not interested in in order to obtain a gear that suits their playstyle. Note that this is not another "I want my BiS gear NOW" whine - I do not want to reduce the gameplay time / effort needed to obtain the optimal set - I just want to be able to get any of the sets by doing either of the activities, I do not care if I need a total of 100 or 1000 or 10000 medalions for the item. Obviously there are various ways to sort it out - have only one common currency, obtainable from both sc and rvr, and scale gear price and drop rates accordingly; have two currencies and chance % of them dropping from either activity; I am sure smart people like those running this project could come up with many better ones. But for some reason we are stuck with healers not being able to obtain their primary set from scenarios, and dps who need to play scenarios in order to obtain their set. Why is that?
I quickly scanned the topics, have not seen an answer anywhere, so apologies if that has already been explained and thanks for pointing me to that discussion.

I totally support that idea. I love scenarios, they give at least bigger chance for quick and quite balanced pvp activity, unfortunately I feel forced to do, lets admit it, time consuming and a bit broken RvR. I`m speaking from healer (DoK) point of view. So, unification of gear currency would be a great idea.

I admit I was surprised when I saw that on my WP the orvr gear was for healers and the scenario gear was for mdps. Which bummed me out because I like scenarios more than rvr (because of scale) but that meant I'd gimp myself by not having the currency for the gear. I'd love to see a way to balance it out somehow.

If you want the best gear you'll have to participate in all the various content. Back on live you couldn't get any sets from SC's (except dropped boots/gloves from the rvr sets). Only weapons, and even that was a late addition.

I could get behind that Torq, but how would you distribute the SC gear without emblems? Quests? Reaching certain milestones similar to Ward unlocks? All random drops?

Instead of unifying currencies, make it a tad bit easier to obtain such items. Quests that award emblems and medallions, of course through their respectable domain (ORvR and SC). Just like in T2 and T3.
It took me two weeks to get my 5 set Merc gear w/o buying them through AH and i expect it to be another two weeks to get my 2h. But quests that rewarded such currencies helped a lot and bringing them back would please the majority of players. It made the grind a tad faster along with the challenge of killing all three opposing races which also encouraged PvP and SC's.
I'm not aware of the original issue where it led to those quests being removed or if there was an issue in the first place. I wouldn't assume that there was one since it did make a lot of players happy.
But again, most of the content in T4 is temporary and in development. So, we could see a change or not on how the grind is altered.

then adjust the rewards of the "harder" path? i mean ofc people will always flock where the rewards are easier to get, i still remember the 80/20 population dark days back in t2 after devastator got added. but the challenge is to balance out risk vs reward and in all honesty doing keeps in the current state is just not worth it. we have a quint-dipping RNG to battle against just to have a chance of getting an item and thats even worse than some korean mmos ive played in the past.Torquemadra wrote:I personally am in favour of removing currencies and ending failing your way to gear but thats just me.

Thats just wrong. Back on live, the medaillons for the gear dropped on quite a regular basis in scenarios. Unified currency would mess up orvr, medalions are much more difficult to obtain than emblems so people would just switch to sc farm (tell me, where can you get 6+ medalions in 5-10minutes?)
Even if it was somewhat balanced then people woud go for easier and 'guaranteed' source of currency which is scenarios
If we take the reward to 1 currency for win it's still 1 currency guaranteed for everyone on winning side
And one more thing - diversity is the key to long-term fun! Otherwise people will get bored after few weeks

No no no. Dunno where the prob is. Yesterday i go a bit solo rvr in praag. I got 86 Medaillons in two hours. And u need much more emblems than Medaillons. If u want weapon and so on. I Farmed in scs 1600 emblems and still dont have Set and weapon. U just need 700 Medaillons to get all Medaillon rewards. So its Not easyier to get anhilator than merc Set. Just dont follow stupid zerg. Make a lil Group and kill ppl and u get Medaillons fast
