Does anyone know what ability this animation is for?

It's at 2:00 (mute your audio first)
It's basically a large pillar and a smoke wave of dark magic.

There also used to be a backlash/combustion animation where bright wizards would burst in flame and sorcerers would be hit with dark magic. Were those removed towards the end close to the final days of War?

That is Pit of Shades, a channeled AoE ability.

There still is a Combustion animation, not sure about the Sorc one, can't remember off the top of my head. The BW one is basically a small explosion originating from the BW's body.

No, not that one- the one at around 2:05.

That would be Black Horror, you can see the 20s initiative debuff on the engi, at 2.04 - 2.05.

From the looks of it this animation was still active before the server went offline...is this something the RoR devs haven't had a chance to fix or did the original devs.

I've been exploding left and right but I don't see the animation-

I guess they'll get it them when they have time- right now the client and fixing orvr is more important.

You are right actually, it felt like I've seen the animation. But I can't see it ingame so maybe it's just me remembering live server BWs.
