forum rewards

Hello all

I wake up this morning, come here to read news posts and had an idea. I tought about players that really help other players on the forum by searching information, answer about this or that question, stay cool when others ragging, trolling etc etc....

Could it be possible to create a point system on the forum ?
For example, taking titles from the book of knowledge, and create a ranking bonus/malus rank in the forum. Members could "vote" for the quality of the awser/comment (usefull or not) in the forum.

This could be usefull to make the difference between floders/spammers/ragers etc and those who actually really want to help.

What do u think about it ?

Thats very interesting suggestion.
But i think, at this stage, alpha-development, ingame features are in highest priority.

FYI I don't work on the emulator, only on the website. So, it's not a problem if i spend some time on that.

I'll check if it's easy to implement or not.

Stay tuned ;)

Helping others is a reward in itself : ]

Edit: It's a decent idea, just how to create a system that isn't easy to manipulate like some kind of forum mini-game.

The best thing i've seen should be to have + and - buttons under a new profile entry named karma (in the viewable profile on the left of each post).

When someone helps, you click on + and gives 1 karma.
If someone does bad things, you click on -, and remove 1 karma.

I don't know how is limited karma increase and decrease from one user to another, i'll have to check that.

If it worked like a currency and you had to spend your own karma points you earned then that might work. The more of your own karma points you spend on others brings you closer to a new rank that grants a title. Think that's what you mean by your last idea, that could work!
That would mean every user starts with a limited amount to spend. Would be cool, is it possible to implement though is another question lol.

(Edit: Probably wouldn't even need - Karma come to think of it)

I don't much like Karma systems as they can be and are abused. I would prefer to see useful posters vetted by staff and promoted to a different usergroup, or that the downvote option not exist.

Invite a friend to play: X karma
Create/translate a guide for installing/playing the game.
help on class forum: X Karma
help on technical forum: X karma
Organise a RVR event : XX karma
Organise a RP event: XX karma
Participate on bug Tracker: XXX karma

XXXXXXX karma: Titles/evolued profile on the forum (all visitors will easier see that u care and contribute the game), participate in the futures live test, obtain officials informations before all other members and other stuff like that
More u have karma, more u'll be rewarded for u're acting with the game/commulauty

On wordpress, things like buddypress could be interessting.. but I'm not a webaster ;)

I'd also say let the Staff decide on the most useful/helpful posters and give them some type of "helping hand" title.
Karma will not bring quite the effect some people wish for.

Quick look in the crystal ball:
The poor users marked with being usefull, get perma spammed with always the same basic questions, because other users are too lazy to use the search function.
