How to "close the gap" (melee advice plz?)

Hey community,
Love my mara, and the choppa I just got to lvl 9. Tonight I "felt" the 'melee bug' more than any night since being able to come back semi-regularly after a very irl-busy summer; that is to say, I hadn't really experienced the "WARNING: Fist will now pass through screen," effect of (on my West Coast USA located rig; one of the cities Comcrap rolled out their newest/fastest blah, blah, making my ping 300+ms & 5-14MB/s upload -- incredibly marked decline from 20-40ms and 30+MB/s) my avatar being literally inside/on top of an enemy yet making no connection on AA/abilities, for example, all the way from Mandreds to Order WC. At least all of them were decent enough to NOT emote, etc. Apparently most have experienced this: it actually sucks and blows at the same time. The lack of asshattery was much appreciated and my respect goes to those enemies who simply turned tail, or stomped my face in without the ,"nyah, nyah, can't catch me!" stuff. /salute

So, what can I do (no doubt the Devs are well aware and oft appraised of this) considering my location in relation to server and, at least when I've time to play, my respected enemies. Caveat: I restored back to W8.1 from "WX" less than 24 hours after receiving 2,461 "objects", per Malwarebytes Chameleon (yes, it WAS that bad...), when I,"... just want to see what The Edge is like..." clicked that dreaded icon only later learning that MB Anti-Exploit, Defender, even my gd firewall decided to become spectators as the web's garbage trucks unloaded their current haul. :x

I know about MS's new coat tail policy for my bandwidth, which I believe is suffering from the Comcrap recent rollout, plus that 'invisible' 20% MS's fat ass is sitting on; yet I'm unsure if it effects me on 8.1, and unsure about how to check/fix this challenge.

Other than the text wall ^^^ what suggestions/fixes have you other "Distance-challenged" melee done to alleviate this? I most often play when there's fewer than 100 players on, so I don't believe it's to do with that, but I'm still babe in the woods when augmenting my rig or net speed.

Thanks heaps in advance. Good hunting!

Nothing you can really do mate half the time it feels like we melee classes are just waving our hands and just looping though the snare or attack animation while chasing a target

If your an mdps you can always charge to get right on top of them to hit your snare

Sometimes it helps to deselect and select your target again. Other than that, I havnt heard of any counter to this.

It's quite a long shot, but if you get a reliable VPN connection to europe and that connection is reliable to the server, you should get a better connection than what you have but then again, it might or might not exisist for you.

hey, thank you all very much for the feedback! I'm happy to attempt each of these; I'll be back mid-week to tell what worked.

Good hunting.

One Problem with MDPS is snare is only 50% uptime. I think once you get used to how melee is in this game you can adjust and improve your movement to counteract it a bit.

It could also be a latency problem, If you are West coast US or Oceanic you should probably just stick to ranged classes where higher ping isn't a game breaker.

I'm on West coast NA, and yeah it can be a pain. The best thing you can do is run past your target before using your skill, and try to predict their movements a bit, once the snare is on you're good.

Ya i played my WH a bit today, forgot how bad it can be if the other team has tanks that wont leave you alone. If your snare immunity is off CD you might as well just be knocked down for 50 seconds because you aren't going to do **** lol.

For avoid any share block by the provider you could use a vpn connection to avoid us block ( there are some free vpn and some pay vpn if you really want play war you could want try it once if they work. Also if you have a guaranteed ping or connection you could ask to your provider to add an expetion to your adsl for ror or you cancel the contract.
Also always de-active pc firewall, alredy antivirus firewall + router alredy cover all the holes.
Don't use windows 8 or 10 roll back to windows 7.

best advice - re-select your target (sometimes it helps) or burn your charge and use your snare on enemy once you are even few feets infront of that player.

or just hope it can be somehow fixed
