Re: Allow a switch without cooldown to faction with 40+ AAO
Yes, absolutly. Maybe it should be a dynamic system, based on the overall population on T2+ (T4) and the AAO from the lakes to prevent any abuse.

Re: Allow a switch without cooldown to faction with 40+ AAO
I like the idea in principle but there are a lot of things that can go wrong this mechanic if implemented improperly.
My main gripe is with how this AAO would be calculated. There are 2 main options:
My main gripe is with how this AAO would be calculated. There are 2 main options:
- AAO is based on the most popupated active zone's AAO:
For example if Praag has 40 of one faction and 20 for the other (100% AAO), while Black Crag has 5 against 2 (250% AAO) --> AAO = 100% > 40%
- AAO is based on the total faction numbers :
For example if there are 300 of one faction online and 200 of the other --> 50% AAO > 40%
- What happens near the 40% limit? If the underpopulated faction suddenly drops to 39% AAO, can people still keep swapping around? Or is it possible that a warband/guild that started swapping is split in half due to the restriction no longer applying? --> Need to add a 5 minute grace period once the AAO drops bellow 40%?
- What happens when people try to exploit the system? In the Zone AAO system, people could log off/hide in PvE/capital right before a Fort starts. Then if some people take the bait and Xrealm to help the seemingly undermanned faction, they could show up in rvr, flip the AAO and then swap to the attackers' side to take the still poorly defended fort. --> Perhaps adding a timer to which way the xrealming exception system works (e.g. if Destro can now log Order due to 40+% AAO, Order cannot log Destro via the same exception, even if AAO flips, for the next 30 minutes).
- On the other hand, for the Faction AAO system, while it would avoid the issue of people hidding outside RvR, what happens if 1 faction has more people doing PvE content? Or are afk? These shouldn't ideally be factored in the AAO due to being unable to participate in RvR. But the game has no way to determine that. Also, people can still log off temporarily to cheese it.
- Similarly, in the Faction AAO system again, will people in T1 be counted? Sure, some people have higher level alts they could log, but the rest should not be counted. The game once again cannot determine that.

Imo allow switch all the time without restriction. But when you switch next hour or two non of your characters of that realm could gain renown and crests

How about instead increasing the switch time between realms to 30 days or so? Choose a side and stick to it.

Prohibit the switching sides forever and ban people with multiple accounts. Let's play pure Warhammer at last! I am serious.

Re: Allow a switch without cooldown to faction with 40+ AAO
Adding even more complications, there is an inherent tension in the desire for a "good fight" with even sides and the reward system which focuses on kill farming followed by bag rolls for zone captures.
The "optimal" progression for a more populated side comes when the enemy has around 40% aao. This allows your side to more easily get kills and take the keep but there is usually enough opposition for you to get good contribution while only slowing you down a little.
Sadly there is very little incentive for the enemy to keep fighting at these odds b/c you can contest a zone for a very long time like this and get relatively paltry rewards for the loss.

A better idea would be AAO character based, like Rested renown. But Devs dont really care about community ideas.

Exactly right - 40% aao is where i draw the line and go PVE, farm mats or more likely just log offAethilmar wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 1:33 pm Adding even more complications, there is an inherent tension in the desire for a "good fight" with even sides and the reward system which focuses on kill farming followed by bag rolls for zone captures.
