Heya,

I been planning to write this for a while, but never got really into it, as its maybe a big topic which really needs careful consideration so it doesnt turn into another WE/WH bad, regen bad, AM/RP bad, gobbos bad thread.

I run too, like so many of us in forums, run mostly solo, and have noticed some calsses with some abilities which really are very powerful in 1v1 environment, but insignificant in larger scale. My wish is to draw attention to these small things to make soloroaming just tad more balanced without messing with main focus of balancing around group comps. I know that 1v1 is and will and should probably be rock-paper-scissor game, but maybe it could be tweaked just a bit.

I havent wrote down everything I have noticed so I will probably forget lots of points, but here are skills I have noticed, and wish to see tweaked a bit. I will try to update the list whenever something crosses my mind, or if there are sensible points from someone else.

for attention, I will open with stealthers :D, this is sure to get the thread lively

WH/WE
: Stealth off time to same as stealth duration. As someone mentioned earlier it has really no bigger value in larger scale, but it would force WH (and WE) to use it more conservatively and choose if they want to seize the easy iniative to fight with opening invisible, OR dodge groups. The iniative can still be seized in fight with fast stealth by popping it when closing in, just requires a lot more coordination.

Another thing is immunity time of declare anathema/agile escape, with 20s immunity from stagger, combined with 4s disarm in melee OR 2 s KD+ repel+morale they can almost stagger again before enemy has chance to hit you. That combined with the extraordinary dmg output these classes have now makes me wonder if this is intentional or not.

Witchbrew reduced uptime, to make it more active cast like the crit mechanics from SL and Mara. it should need some more planning when and how to use it, instead of just firing it off and having it on until you have hit x amount of times

lastly the proc rate of bullet and kisses. This im not entirely sure about, but leave it here to be discussed. With certain specs and dots running WE can ramp up maybe 10+ hits per gcd. with sac stab+both AA hits +kiss procs+weapon procs+ dots and probably even second round of AA causing second round of procs, with fast weapons and AA haste build. Luckily, there is maybe 2-3 WE's using this setup. This is not that major issue, and I'm not even sure what can or should be done about it

White Lion Make pet summon stationary like it is to every other pet class. This would force them to pay more attention to pet, and as the pet is huge part of the WL fights, having no major penalty of getting pet destroyed is really giving this class further boost. By no major penalty I mean that in most cases WL can use morale root, cc cleanse, and charge/flee (or both) away and not be caught until they can summon new lion on the run. with the stationary cast there would be choice to be made, continue without pet, or risking having the cast interrupted and getting caught without cat (it could still be summoned easily in fight, just a minor hinderance, and would make the kiting game that much harder)

Magus Mirror aegis into keg. Magus already has it easy with all the spare renown from not needing Weaponskill and having crit tactic directly tied to tree they spent mastery points anyways into. There is no reason why each magus should run with 10k hp + when they are anyways naturally tanky class with absolute kit for kiting. I know aegis can in theory be shattered, but isnt shatter order first come-first shattered so it will usually take 3 hits to get into aegis, and it can be used well ahead of fight.

IB for love of god let the dot ticks build the grudge :D Having 5 dots in you and still not enough grudge to even cast first runic shield is absolute nightmare. the grudging blow to build grudge was good welcome change!

BO please give the fort weapon the speedproc back! or does it affect the largescale?

Rune/zealot Embrace the warp and Grimnir's shield not usable with harbringer/rune of breaking Zealot has nearly magus level of DMG with access to lifetaps, the dmg reduction combined with the burst is just out of this world. Im not entirely sure if rune has same amount of burst, as most runies play the dot spec and I dont have one myself ,but I assume this is still valid to runie aswell. If you go dps, you have to be more careful.

lower the range of stagger to 80ft, at 100ft you can barely see them before they stagger you. Again solo problems, but I dont think it would affect the wb/group scale that much

Engi I think engi is in goos spot now, compared to magus we lack mutating blue fire dmg, but have access to more punt. Personally the speed change of weapons did nerf the dmg output a lot as AA is now badly out of sync with abilities. with 4s speed from bloodlord rifle you could chain up gunblast and AA together for decent amount of hits with drawback of having to stand still for 2 seconds. now the AA is not faster but does not hit as hard anymore due to 3s AA speed (AA is limited by abilities) Its not so huge issue with kiting spec where you use grenades and instacast abilities more.

All pets This is hard one, but having each ranged pet hit through terrain is super annoying

This is what I had for now, im sure I have forgot a lot of things, some of my suggestions might have impact on larger scale which im not aware off. Solo balance should never go over the group balance, except ofc if you are WE/WH then whatever :D

I could spellcheck this with something, but not going to... I hope you understand anyways.

Great post.
None of these are only related to soloq but also the balance tho.
Unfortunately, current balance system do not create a fair and enjoyable experience because of the things you explained above.
I think some of the classes got the power without enough trade-off.
Balance doesn't mean everything is equal so being OP is totally ok and expected but there should be a way to counter it. Balance should provide all classes working together.

I think generally magic damage dealers who have enough survivability will always be broken in solo as the cap for magic dmg resi is quiet low in my opinion and lets be honest most people are running around with armor potion (resi potion which was a really good tool to get more defensives against all magic dealers was nerfed to the ground so noone uses it anymore). So they pump out enough damage without investing into it and they can invest in defensives while still melting even tanks. Also some classes just have retarded kit and they will be broken even if a handicapped person is playing them, but i understand they just cant take away some classes toys because they are broken in Solo, which is fine, but bring up some of the other classes that are absolute garbage in solo (looking at Sorc/BW, Slayer . Surely there is a way to make them more balanced without touching their group/wb capabilites.

i feel like stealth duration / cooldowns not really a problem considering this is probably the weakest stealth state of all mmos out rn considering wow has infinite stealth with no cast time.

but i definitely agree stealth classes feel very powerful in 1v1 but not so much in the large scale considering this game is mostly large scale

Disagree on few points :
Keg gives more hp/min than aegis and magus doesn't have range AA
Wl pet already despawn/freez way too often ; Sh should also summon squigs on the move
Agree on quite all the rest, lots of things to change to balance 1v1
Would really like few up for Bg mech too
/sad on wh/we ranged slow now preventing strafe escape while they vanish at will

Imo on destro the worst things are Rp infinite slow tactic and Am big dots
Played more orda lately (wl/sm), got pwned by most we/magus

We'll see rdps patch

One idea that could really help soloers (especially 2h tanks) :
Please allow tactic swap during fight
With 10min CD in combat so dps healers don't get more broken

ok im getting triggered so its ranting time.

pet ai is the buggiest pos ive ever seen in any game and im sure fixing it is impossible since this game is build on a conglomerate of quicksand and spaghetti code.
pet behavior is so inconsitent its driving me mad.
right now in praag, my pet always gets teleported 30ft behind me when i order it to attack.
its mostly out of range or cannot find line of sight so it does nothing.
and ofc after further kiting that one wp, im out of range and it gets unsummoned.
now i basically lost 70% of my damage.
i hate playing a class whos dmg is 50% pet damage but the pet is useless and buggy.
they are also useless in wb, easily killed in 6man and not really used in dungeons.

squig can change to squigarmour thats reason enough to call it squigherder.
white lion wars lion fur thats reason enough to call it white lion.
Therefore:

Remove pets alltogether and give their powers to the classes themselves.
should be less effort than fixing them i naively assume :D.

As also mostly Solo roamer I see what u see in the lakes and I agree with basicly all of it, after Mdps rework wich imho was a huge fail the gap between the Mdps classes just increased sadly.

Engi v Magus thing, I also play both and I prefer magus for exact reason you say Magus dont need WS speccing and have then renown to use elsewhere. I however dont think gap between those classes are big, Engi is better then it was and Magus have it abit harder after WE/WH got stronger.

I also think since Rdps rework is yet to come we still may see some tweaks to those classes, tho I more fear the rework then look forward to it considering the fail of Mdps rework.

Rest of what u said I basicly agree with, u seen those classes u listed (not gonna name them again) clearly got a big boost in dmg now.

keg vs aegis is hard one, but Since keg is 2s cast, can be debuffed, forces you to remain close and can be summoned inside terrain where it wont heal. I would rather have insta cast 2200hp which you can use proactively, which cant be debuffed, only shattered, once you have shattered all the other buffs first.
On stationary defensive spec, maybe even with regen the Keg for sure is better, but those specs are so utterly stupid in 1v1 play anyway that there is no point talking about them. Also KEg might be whole different thing in groups, in some duos I have popped keg next to melee mate to add that little boost to his hp, as keg is to whole party and aegis is only to selfcentered magus.

But speaking purely of 1v1 solo qq persperctive I would rather have aegis than HoT

The pet pathing and AI is super wonky in this game, and I dont think there is simple solution for it, for that reason I did leave the pets out of the topic. Sometimes they just disappear, sometimes they come thro mountains, I have had cases of spiked squig run underground to shoot me so I cant even detaunt it. not sure if its all things AA or just pet AA that goes thro terrain.

lastly I added the runie/zeal stagger range point to the list, 100ft is long enough that sometimes you dont have the runie/zeal in drawdistance before he can stagger you :D

Both engi and magus have their strong points, Engi AA on the move should not be underestimated, but thats behind tactic. Stationary AA is great as well, but it is... stationary and often hindered by abilities. stationary dps engineer is often very soon a flat one, ask any member of freebootaz for confirmation :D

I would say stealth is fine and even the welf dmg spec (which is incredibly strong) is fine.

The issue is double jump hard countering ranged classes.

As for white lion are they a huge issue solo? I do not see many myself.

Instead of nerfs I would rather see added sort of boosts to struggling specs like: Engi ironbreaker blackguard Shadow warrior
