Changes to the way Medallions are earned

I've been noticing that I don't get any medallion drops in scenario and very low drop rates in ORvR. Given that T3 should be coming out soon and the medallion prices of the gear are what it was on Live, can we then implement medallion drops to be like on Live as well?

The way it was on Live was based on your opponent's renown rank. So for example, if you kill someone who is renown rank 1-9, a recruit medallion would drop, a level 10-19 would drop scout, 20-29 would drop soldier, 30-39 would drop officer, 40-49 would drop conqueror crests, or cluster of conqueror crests, and so on and so forth.

That system gave incentive to kill higher RR players (who usually were better geared) and would help gear you up faster. Keeps also gave you one medallion (and a bag though I know why the devs removed it). Scenarios would also have a good chance of dropping medallions which currently don't drop any at all, forcing people into zergfest that also yield no medallions because of the lack of opponents to kill.

I don't propose this change to happen in T2, but I hope you consider making it for T3 as it will be required with the really high prices on medallion gear. Also, since bags are not given at keep takes (with the RR gear in them) the grind would be longer than that on Live. Increasing the % drop rate should also be a priority. ;)

We dont even have rvr set boots and gloves dropping from players either to accompany the reduced rate of medallion drops.

I would also wait for t3 to drop to bitch about it but if when t3 drops we have the same policy towards rvr gear and scenario weapons, i will be a sad man.

I really do not understand this insistency of using the carrot on a stick method to make players continue playing, i never did.

Probably has something to do w/the fact that the entire RPG genre was specifically based upon it.

Prior to that, you had straight wargaming, but no continuing characters. RPGs were specifically the adding of acquisition allowing for progression/ramping up of characters in experience in gear.

Thus, the entire reason you are even playing RoR was that Arneson, and then Gygax, realized carrot on a stick could be darned fun, so evolved D&D out of Chainmail Miniatures Rules. . . and a hell of a lot of ppl agreed with them on this. Admittedly, none of these ppl were you, but then, most ppl aren't.

So D&D the game where a GM can dictate whatever happens is designed specifically on a carrot on a stick basis.

Ok, back to the asylum with you grandpa.

Fun fact: We don't have medallion prices like on live. ;)

With 100% win rate it takes significantly longer with the current implementation, while the average number of required matches is similar.

Having said that, the current system is bad.

Live war crest system > live medallion system > current ROR system

dosnt the t3 sc wep vendor have t3 medallions? like 5 sc medallions for 1 single t3 medallion?

this was why having 1 unified currency was better that 50 different types of crests and medals

people go out have fun in scs or orvr and then go buy set gears and go back an have fun not

"oh you want sc weps? go play (more like grind scs till you hate scs) 200 scs; but wait you want rvr gear? too bad gotta go play in orvr"

Actually, D&D is a game where players CONSTANTLY surprise DMs as to what they choose to do, going "outside the lines", and requiring actual "thinking on one's feet" by the DM to accommodate this. Pretty standard for any tabletop RPG. The players rush for the goal, and either succeed or fail. The DM does not determine player choice, or their luck (sometimes incredible luck) in reaching or missing that goal: "Let the dice fall where they may." Any DM who tries to railroad the game will fail pretty fast, either due to it being overly obvious, or mere player frustration. If you actually had played any pen and paper games, you'd know this, but I guess you just crawled out of the crib recently.

And yes, D&D is carrot on stick. Better gear and XP is the carrot dangled in front of you. Again, if you have ever played tabletop RPGs, you should know this, unless you were stoned or something at the time.

And, again, RoR and every single other RPG in existence are all based on this same template, a template that works great for many, many ppl, and has since its first inception. My point was that the entire genre works this way; that's why it is an RPG, and not wargaming. Learn your genres.

That dev either said something else and you got it wrong or he gave false information.
