Being able to heal and damage while using the ability is how it worked from 2008 to 2020, and how it currently works again. The movement issue was relating to how during between 2020 and 2023 you could not cancel the channel unless you used another ability, as the other way of cancelling channels (by moving or jumping) was not an option as it roots you in place.
The 2020 adjustment was absolutely garbage, didn't actually implement the patch notes and no attempt was made to fix all of the issues it created in the process.

WR won't change solo behavior. They'll just force close the game with no repercussions from the dev team, deny you a kill, and preserve their precious inflated K/D ratio.
And that should be next on the list to be fixed. If you crash while flagged for PVP then you should be subject to the same persistence rules as if you were still logged in, e.g. your character stays there until 20 consecutive seconds of being out of combat have passed.
For those saying it hurts soloers: they are playing in one big sandbox along with everyone else. Most of the complaints typically boil down to wanting to play a different game entirely. This happened on live as well, and people arranged for fights to happen in empty/locked zones because they wanted to avoid the people doing the main actual RvR campaign in an open RvR zone.
