Honestly being lvl17 lasts for like 30minutes ingame if you play semi active?
Also you can try to learn from every death, what, if anything, could have been done better, like positioning, watching around more carefully, yes, detaunt before danger, prioritize dangers, having the best gear for your level.
Joining a guild helps too, because they will do almost everything to help you progress and get stuff you need.
But otherwise in this game you will kinda die a lot, awful lot, even in bis gear.
Bicska this Bicska that

I recently lvled a DoK. It took me 22h to go from r1 to r40 doing exclusively SCs and Gunbad runs (once I hit r32). It didn't seem slow to me.

I play mostly healer and tank so I'll try to give you some advice on how to not die. Use wound talis, even low level one will help you thanks to the bolster. Put all your RR points in futile strike. The main job of a healer is to stay alive, healing comes second. You can't heal if you are dead. As a Sham, slot the auto-detaunt tactic as soon as you get it. Join a party, so other ppl will have your back. Have a lot of patience.

If you tire of healing, switch to DPS. Shaman isn't as good as it used to be, but you can still have fun.

if you dont have guard or some allies near you, you are pretty much cooked as a shaman against WL/WH. both have just insane damage spikes, its almost illegal.

they even buffed WH recently
They buffed WEs too and added absolute bs pounce on stealth char... Which cd reset when u go stealth.
Absolute bullshit. Can jump around more then WL or mSH...
SM 83 / IB 83 / KOTBS 83 / WL 82 / WP 72 / SW 75
CH 77 / BG 6X / BO 6X / WE 6X / MAG 6X ...and others.

I recently came back to the game after about a year break. It does seem like the Shaman was nerfed pretty hard :(

Off topic. What's the reason for 7x shaman characters? And 4x others?

7x represents 70-79 rr
4x = 40-49 rr

They decided to reduce armor tallies quite significantly across the board. And more recently reduced armor pots . So everything now is very squishy. It wasn't always like this but I don't think things will change in the foreseeable future. Shamans do have the option of running toughness/wounds as that plays into most of their gear stats and a heal buff in later levels. But a WL will still kill you only a little slower.
Healers are certainly not squishy.

A ranged squig herder in max crit and weaponskill is squishy :)

A guarded healer getting crosshealed in sc is sometimes unkillable

You can't avoid quick deaths at level 17.
This is normal even if you're a predetaunt.

I can advise you to find a mid tier party scenario.
Play mainly scenarios.
While waiting for sc pop, do orvr.

As a lowlevel char, you have a boost.
It depends on whether you have the right equipment for your level.
It depends on whether you have talismans equipped and whether you have potions.

Currently, you have many opportunities to obtain equipment.
You can buy it with PvP currency.
You can do dungeons: Sacullum, city PQ, or regular PQ.
The devs are working on another dungeon dedicated to mid tier.

But the most important thing is to play in a party.
If the group has a tank and 2xheal, survivability increases significantly, and the best defense is positioning and pre-kiting.
And remember, never enter sc/orvr without:
2xap pot (craft + officer)
2xheal pot (craft + officer)
1xabsorb pot (craft)
Hurub Chopa 80+ / Wybrany Chosen 80+ / Mroczniak BG 70+ / Alubercik BO 70+ / Doczek DoK 80+ / Hurubek Zeal 80+ /
Misio Shaman 80+ / Maxra Mara 60+ / Alubertus RP 80+ / Alubert KTB 80+ / Mnich WP 80+ / Kregi SL 60+ / Uposledzonyjez IB 60+

Light armored healers are free kills. It is a feature. Is not an accident.
